Samuel Collins III is a 7th generation Texan with roots back to 1837. He graduated with a BBA in Accounting from Texas A&M University in 1994. He has been a lifelong resident of Galveston County. He is married to his wife Doris. They have four children, two daughters and two sons. In 2015 he was named Galveston County’s Citizen of the Ye
Samuel Collins III is a 7th generation Texan with roots back to 1837. He graduated with a BBA in Accounting from Texas A&M University in 1994. He has been a lifelong resident of Galveston County. He is married to his wife Doris. They have four children, two daughters and two sons. In 2015 he was named Galveston County’s Citizen of the Year for his work in Galveston County and the preservation community on the local, state and national levels.
He currently serves as an advisor with the National Trust for Historic Preservation representing Texas. He is actively involved in the national campaign to #TellTheFullStory by expanding the narrative and telling the truth about American history. He has spoken on programs for major universities and corporations including Texas A&M, Prairie View A&M, Harvard, Rice, Texas, Vasser College, West Point Academy, Nike, Caterpillar, Boeing, Allstate, Wendy's and many more.

On June 17, 2021 Juneteenth became a national holiday. Hear the story of Juneteenth as it was passed down from generation to generation to Sam a Galveston native and 7th generation Texan. Juneteenth became popular in 2020, but it has always been important to American and World history. This is a story not only about freedom, but also about absolute equality.
